I am not sure whether you can upload the book on your site. Let me check all the angles. The last thing we want is any sort of trouble due to stupid upload. Cheers Bhuvan

I fully supoort this idea of having this library section on public domain of our website. It can very easily be done through hierarchical Blog pages. Please let me know if we want to persure this idea then I can make more detailed instructions.
And yes to save space we should avoid uploading books already available legally on Internet.
Cheers.

I couldn"t find your post, Anubhava. Hence cutting pasting from gmail.
My main problem with the Forum is the clutter. Can we have a system by which all public forums are not visible to us but only to the public? Ideally we can create a subdomain called "visitors.freedomteam.in" and host their forums on that domain so they don"t interfere with our forum. Thereafter we can create a sensible library. I"m also VERY concerned about posting stuff on the library that is (a) publicly available elsewhere and should only be linked (e.g. on a blog page) and (b) is copyrighted and we are potentially in violation of copyrights. This should not go public unless we have worked through a rigorous system. Also, it is not clear why books that are not specifically part of the liberal stream of need to be uploaded.
What does Google Books exist for? It has millions of books stored. Also Liberty Fund has thousands of liberal books. I"ve ordered a free CD from them containing thousand of books. Finally Gutenberg books are available for download as a bit-torrent and I"ve downloaded thousands of books as well.
There is a huge difference between preparing a VERY FEW and highly selected books for people to read and uploading a million books without any particular reason.
I"d suggest that this library thing be paused and a LOT of thought be given to it – also in terms of our limited time. What are we trying to achieve with the library? Are we a think tank? Why not let CCS/Liberty Institute do such things?

Since FTI"s website is limited in capacity, we should store in our library ONLY those books that are not readily availble on Google bookstore or on the internet. Please also be sure to comply with copyright restrictions. We are not entitled to share books that are under copyright.
Can you please confirm that (a) the copyright issues relating to the books being uploaded have been fully complied with and (b) these are not availble elsewhere.
Ideally please only post a web URL link to the relevant book.
Well the whole idea was to provide the members important useful books in a much organised way under one umberella- FTI library. I managed to talk to someone over the phone from Ludwig Von Mises Institute (Alabama, US) with regard to permission to upload book. I have to say that I really got a very patient and helpful feedback. The person said that many institutes and forum are requesting them to grant permission to upload the books which is not a problem as long as these uploads are not becoming a business to make profit. The important thing according to the institute is to spread the work of Ludwig through fair way. I have also e-mailed them and requested for written info/permission.
About Milton Friedman book- I bought the digital edition online (I think AU$ 10 approx) and found quite useful to share with FTI members even though it is quite a massive file. It is not available anywhere on the internet. I strongly feel it is worth to share this book with FTI members even if consume some extra mb"s from the quota. I am already in the middle of requesting permission to upload it. The whole idea is to share the knowledge or rather prompt someone to go for the book on FTI library by giving him/her a real insight of the contents.
About Balraj Madhok books these are meant for circulations and you will find few of them banned which is beyond my understanding.
I am not too much bothered about the library books as my intention is to bring members awareness at par with everyone on some issues relating to politics, economics, liberalism etc etc. However I am taking off all the books from the shelves. Apologies to those members who found these books intriguing. Cheers Bhuvan

Hi Sanjeev
Good to see you back and all over the forum. I am not too bothered about making these books available to the public, infact you can make it public as an admin I guess.
I am more than happy to mail you the banned book on kashmir to be uploaded on your website. The key is to disseminate the truth. Let me know and I will mail you straightaway.

Anubhava, would you able to confirm the max capacity of the website and currently used (duration). I know SPF (forum) doesn"t impose any limit in terms of data upload capacity, but the host might. Cheers Bhuvan

Dear All
Can I suggest that all Library uploads be made in the public domain on a web page on the main FTI page (I"m not sure if this material is readily available to the public)? That way people who come by can also read these documents?
If any book is banned in India (which is quite a serious problem with India"s lack of freedoms), I"m happy to upload it on my personal website and FTI can link to it, if it so wishes. I"m not required to comply with the laws of India while I live in Australia.
Regards,
Sanjeev

Dear Bhuvan,
Another good book on Kashmir is My Frozen Turbulence – Jagmohan.
Thanks (Ajay)
——————–
Thanks Ajay for sharing this book. I have already read this book. Jagmohan is an "outsider" to making of J&K dispute and mostly writes about J&K on the basis of tenure as Governor. Rest is accomplied from history books.
The only genuine difference between Books on Kashmir and Prof. Balraj Madhok book "Kashmir…. is that it is purely written as an account of history making in front of the eyes. Same sentiments are echoed by people of that generation (pre and post 1930"s) who saw every selffish acts of so called "leaders" in front of their eyes including my Grandfather and to certain extent my Father.
Cheers
Bhuvan

Dear Bhuvan,
Not sure how to do that setting. Only way I know to do these things by creating a new permission sets and assigning them to various usergroups.
If you agree I can give you admin access to Forum to explore things through admin panel.
Meanwhile I have given file upload privileges in this Library forum to GB members only thus non-GB members will not be able to upload a file in "Library" forum (they can still upload files on rest of the forums).
Cheers. (Anubhava)

Hi Anubhava
I am okay with admin access. But not too sure about allowing the uploading feature in the library on the status of membership, even though technically (in terms of spf feature on the basis of GB and non GB) it is very easy to decide whom to allow and whom not to, but I will definately explore on admin access. Thanks.
Cheers
Bhuvan
